An historic Yorkshire outdoor music venue has been named ‘inspirational’ in a major awards with lots of superstars lined up to appear this summer.
Hosted by the UK’s largest music therapy charity, Nordoff and Robbins, the Northern Music Awards, sponsored by Ticketmaster and Live Nation, took place on Thursday, March 27 at the Liverpool Olympia. Halifax Piece Hall took home the impressive accolade of Inspirational Venue of the Year over 2,000 capacity.
Posting on social media, the team at the Halifax venue said: “We’re still buzzing from last night’s incredible moment at the Nordoff and Robbins Northern Music Awards, where we were named Inspirational Venue of the Year. This award isn’t just ours – it’s a celebration of our amazing co-promoters Cuffe and Taylor, every artist who’s graced our stage, and the incredible music fans who’ve made TK Maxx presents Live at The Piece Hall a true success story. Couldn’t be prouder of our team and our venue.”
For those unfamiliar with the stunning multi-purpose Grade I listed venue. It originally opened in 1779 for the trading of ‘pieces’ of cloth produced by Yorkshire’s famous woollen mills and is the only remaining Georgian cloth hall in the world.
Now, enjoying a very different role in the community, it is an award-winning contemporary cultural, heritage and live entertainment destination. The venue has welcomed more than 10 million visitors through its historic gates since it reopened in 2017.
This summer, some of the highlights of Halifax Piece Hall’s concert series include performances by Paul Heaton, Anastacia, The Teskey Brothers, The Corrs, Faithless, Texas, Weezer, Travis, Deftones, Supergrass, Simple Minds, Olly Murs and Rag’n’Bone Man.
